School Board Appreciation Spotlight

Today, we recognize Nancy Duggan, Scurry-Rosser ISD Trustee and Board Secretary.

Years of Service: 13 Years
Why They Serve: I serve because I feel that as a teacher, I can bring insight to a board from that perspective. Previously, I taught in a district where finances were not handled well by the administration, and teachers were left to purchase their own boxes of paper. I did not want to see that happening in the district where I resided, as it truly was a negative impact on teachers and students. Trustees can serve their district well with a transparent and honest administration that works together for the betterment of the whole district.
Favorite Thing About SRISD: My favorite thing about SRISD is when the community rallies together to support the students and employees of SRISD.

Thank you for your dedication to our students and schools! #ThankYouTrustees #ScurryRosserISD #WildcatPride

On Friday, January 16, our PreK artists rocked the Scurry-Rosser Elementary Art Show! These little creators used paint, imagination, and BIG ideas to make super colorful, fun, and wiggly artwork. Every piece was bursting with personality, just like them.

Way to go, little artists! Keep making magic and telling stories with your art. Click here for more photos from the art show: https://shorturl.at/K8Sr6 #WildcatPride

What an amazing evening of laughter, learning, and connection at Scurry-Rosser Elementary! Mom & Son Game Night brought our SRES families together for friendly competition, teamwork, and lots of smiles. It was a time of fun, encouragement, and quality time.

Events like this remind us how special our Scurry-Rosser ISD community truly is. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the night such a success. We’re so grateful for the strong family partnerships that make SRES such a wonderful place to be.

Our 2nd graders in Mrs. Muncrief's class started the morning relating manipulative representations to the addition algorithm. They worked in pairs and compared answers as they used different strategies to solve addition problems while using manipulatives and algorithms.

Today we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Dr. King wanted a world where all people could live with kindness, freedom, and equality. One of his most famous moments was his "I Have a Dream" speech. In this speech, he said,

"I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

Dr. King's dream reminds us to always be kind, treat others fairly, and stand up for what is right. Let's honor him by making SRISD, our homes, and community a place where everyone feels safe and respected. #WildcatPride #WildcatsWin

School Board Appreciation Spotlight

Today, we recognize Drew Sloan, Scurry-Rosser ISD Trustee and Board Vice-President.

Years of Service: 3 1/2 Years
Why They Serve: I serve on the School Board to give back to my community and to advocate for the students of our District. This role allows me to help ensure decisions are made with the students’ best interests, while promoting accountability, transparency, and integrity in how our District is governed. Serving on the board is about strengthening trust, supporting student success, and helping our schools continue to move forward in a positive direction.
Favorite Thing About SRISD: My favorite thing about Scurry-Rosser is seeing how the community supports our students at events. I also love the size of our District. We’re not too small, and not too big. We may not stay this size forever, but for now, we can enjoy what we have.

Thank you for your dedication to our students and schools! #ThankYouTrustees #ScurryRosserISD #WildcatPride
