IMPORTANT VARSITY FOOTBALL UPDATE

Friday night’s Varsity Football game against Italy, originally scheduled to be played at Wildcat Stadium, has been moved to Italy. The game will still be played Friday, August 28, at 7:00 PM.

This change is being made as a safety precaution after construction crews accidentally damaged an electrical conduit that supplies power to Wildcat Stadium, including the stadium lights. While we will miss hosting Friday night’s game, the safety of our athletes, families, and fans remains our top priority.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and flexibility. We hope to see plenty of Wildcat fans in the stands in Italy cheering on our Wildcats!

Message from the Superintendent, Dr. Lori Blaylock

A significant propane leak has been located on top of the B building at Scurry-Rosser Middle School. The line it is attached to has been disabled, with repairs to follow. The Middle School will be open this evening from 4-5:30 PM for students to retrieve their belongings and will resume operations on Monday. Hats off to the Middle School and High School staff as well as our incredible parents for working as a team to protect our students! We are blessed.

SRMS Families,

Thank you so much for your patience, cooperation, and understanding today as we worked through the student dismissal and pickup process at the high school. Your flexibility helped make an unexpected situation run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

Unexpected situations can occur at any moment, and our top priority will always be doing what is in the best interest of the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We are incredibly grateful for the way our SRMS families responded today.

At this time, we are waiting for communication from the maintenance department and gas company to determine when everything has been cleared and it is safe to return to the building. Once we receive that information, we will make plans for students and families to return this afternoon/evening to pick up personal belongings.

We will communicate with everyone as soon as we have the all clear. Please watch for updates.

Thank you again for your patience, grace, and cooperation today. We truly appreciate our Wildcat family!

Proud to be a Wildcat!

Holly Kirby

Attention, parents and guardians of Scurry-Rosser Middle School students: A possible propane leak has been detected at the Middle School. While crews work to locate the leak, students were transported to the High School until all buildings are clear. If you would like to pick up your student, an authorized emergency contct can check them out from the High School. From the front office, parents will be directed to the cafeteria where students will be in stations by alphabet. Valid ID must be presented at time of pick up in the office and in the cafeteria. Additional updates will be provided in a timely manner.

Last Friday, the Scurry-Rosser ISD family came together for Convocation 2026, and what a way to kick off the new school year! The morning began with breakfast generously provided by the Scurry-Rosser Education Foundation, followed by an inspiring opening message from Dr. Lori Blaylock.

Then, Hal Bowman brought the energy with Teach Like a Rock Star! Drawing from more than 20 years in the classroom, Hal reminded our staff about the importance of building meaningful relationships with students, creating a culture where students want to learn, and recognizing the lasting impact educators can have every single day. Throughout the morning, there were plenty of surprises, too! A HUGE thank you to the businesses and community partners who generously donated door prizes for our staff. Your generosity helped make the day even more special! The Scurry-Rosser Education Foundation also kept everyone on their toes with a few hidden prizes throughout the event.

To close out the day, Heather Jestis shared a heartfelt message with our staff, reminding us of the people, purpose, and heart behind the work we do each day. It was the perfect way to bring Convocation to a close and send our team into the new year encouraged and ready to go. We laughed, we learned, we celebrated, and now we're pumped up and ready for our Wildcats!

Students, we’ll see you tomorrow! Bring on the 2026–2027 school year! #SchoolDoneRight #WildcatPride #SRISD #Convocation2026 #TeachLikeARockStar
