Scurry-Rosser ISD Honors Community First Responders: Friday night football looked a little different at Scurry-Rosser ISD on September 11 as the district took time before the varsity game to honor some of the first responders who serve our schools and communities.

Members of the Scurry Volunteer Fire Departmentan d Rosser Volunteer Fire Department were recognized, with Derrick Thibodeaux and Captain Kenneth Orman representing Rosser VFD.

The district also recognized City of Scurry Police Chief Gary Perkins and Officer Marcus Charles, along with members of the Scurry-Rosser ISD Police Department, including Chief Jayme Burley and Officers Frank Gomez and Justin Jordan.

As each first responder was recognized, Athletic Director John David Caffey and Superintendent Dr. Lori Blaylock presented them with certificates of appreciation as a small way to say thank you for all they do for Scurry-Rosser ISD and our community.

The special moments continued as the Varsity Wildcats took the field proudly carrying the American flag. Before kickoff, while gathered in the end zone with the flags held high, the athletes knelt together in prayer.

September 11 is a day that reminds us of the courage, sacrifice, and service of first responders across our country. Friday night allowed Scurry-Rosser ISD to recognize those who serve right here at home.

Thank you to all of our first responders for answering the call, serving our community, and helping keep our Wildcats safe.

Sparks were flying in Mrs. Schmitt’s 5th grade science class today! Students tested conductors and insulators before turning into a giant human circuit using an energy stick. The moment everyone held hands, the complete path lit up the stick, proving science is always cooler when you're part of the experiment! #5thGrade #STEM #HandsOnLearning #ScienceLab #MrsSchmittsClass

Celebrating Our Maintenance Team! Last week, we took time to celebrate the dedicated, hardworking members of our Scurry-Rosser ISD Maintenance Department!

While students and staff were enjoying summer break, this incredible team was working tirelessly, often in the heat, to tackle an extensive list of repairs, projects, and behind-the-scenes tasks to make sure our campuses were ready for everyone’s return.

To show our appreciation, we treated the team to lunch and presented them with a “Summer Mission Accomplished” banner.

Their hard work may not always be seen, but the difference they make is felt across our district every single day. If you see a member of our Maintenance Department, be sure to give them a big THANK YOU for their hard work and dedication to Scurry-Rosser ISD!

We appreciate all you do to keep SRISD running strong! #WildcatPride #SchoolDoneRight #SRISD #ThankYouMaintenance
